Empowering College Dreams with Readiness and Support
Mrs. Orris Post-Secondary Education Advising (PSEA) and The Scholarship Plug are thrilled to introduce a unique scholarship opportunity exclusively for Junior Scholars (Class of 2026) residing in Broward County. This one-time scholarship is designed to empower a high school junior as they navigate their journey toward college success.
The award includes a comprehensive College Apps Bundle Plan from Mrs. Orris PSEA and a one (1) Academic-Year membership to The Scholarship Plug. The selected recipient will gain access to essential tools and expert guidance, ensuring thorough preparation for the college application, financial aid, and scholarship process.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To qualify for The College Jumpstart Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents to be eligible for this scholarship.

Be a high school junior (Class of 2026).

Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA.

Provide the highest ACT and/or SAT scores demonstrating college and career readiness scores.

Be a First-Generation Scholar (neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree).

Reside in a single-parent household or qualify as low-income (e.g., eligible for free/reduced lunch).

Able to participate in weekly virtual meetings from June 2025 - December 2025.

Must have attended a Broward County Library's Ready for College Workshops (more information available at BCL Ready for College).

Submit a minimum 350-word essay on the topic: How attending the "Ready for College" Workshop has influenced your approach to preparing for higher education.

Exhibit a strong desire to pursue higher education and personal growth.

Provide a letter of recommendation from their Grade Level School Counselor or BRACE Advisor, highlighting the applicant's character, leadership, academic potential, and financial need.

All required documents/uploads should be completed before beginning the application.
NEW DEADLINE:
All applicants must submit their application before 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 18, 2025, to be eligible. No exceptions will be made for any reason.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Recipients will be selected based on the quality of their essay, the strength of their recommendation letter, and their demonstrated commitment to pursuing post-secondary education. The selection committee will review all applications carefully, and the winner will be notified in May/June 2025.
